Green Valley up next for Woodlands at Furman Challenge

GREENVILLE, SC – February 7, 2014 – The 2014 Woodlands at Furman Challenge participants will run on home turf this weekend as they participate in the Green Valley Road Race.
The race will be the second in a series of runs that will last throughout 2014. Challenge participants also ran the Greenville News Run Downtown in January. Both the 10K and the 8K courses for the Green Valley run will go around the Woodlands at Furman.
The Woodland at Furman Challenge began in 2011 in conjunction with the Greenville Track Club as a way to promote physical fitness amongst Upstate residents age 65 and older. Points are awarded using a formula that takes into account both race finish time and the age of the competitor.
Going into Green Valley, George Luke of Greenville is the men’spoints leader, followed by Lee Cook of Greer and Don Bridges of Taylors. The women’s side is led by Octavia Childress of Salem, with Sandi Hardaway of Greenville and Flora Fulton of Greenville in second and third place, respectively.
The Woodlands at Furman is a non-profit, mission driven continuing care retirement community owned and operated by a local board of directors and managed professionally by Greystone Communities.
