Greenville EyeCare Expands Team of Doctors

GREENVILLE, SC – May 16, 2013 – Greenville EyeCare Associates, a provider of comprehensive eye healthcare services, announced the merging of optometry services performed by Dr. Ben McNeely and Dr. Johndra McNeely, with those performed by the team of doctors at Greenville EyeCare Associates. This move further strengthens the overall vision health care services available to patients as delivered by the Greenville EyeCare team of physicians. As a result of this merger, the vision health services practice now has a team of four optometrists to personally serve the eye care needs of patients. The team includes Dr. David E. Weaver; Dr. Thomas E. Tucker; Dr. Ben McNeely; and Dr. Johndra McNeely.
Originally from the Upstate, Dr. Ben McNeely graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University in Biological Sciences, received his doctorate with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and received the VSP Excellence in Primary Care Award. Dr. McNeely has completed an externship at the Birmingham VA hospital focusing on pathology and diabetic eye disease and has completed an externship at the Callahan Eye Foundation hospital specializing in low vision. He has been on multiple mission trips to Central America providing eye care. Dr. McNeely has been practicing in the Upstate since 2007 and served as President of the Piedmont Optometric Society in 2012.
A native of Florence, Alabama, Dr. Johndra McNeely graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Alabama in Professional Biology. She received her doctorate of optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she graduated with honors and received the VSP Excellence in Primary Care Award for her graduating class. Dr. McNeely has completed an externship at the Tuscaloosa VA hospital focusing on eye disease and primary care. Her special interests in optometry include diabetic eye disease and children’s vision. Dr. McNeely served as the 2011 president of the Piedmont Society, the upstate’s society of optometrists and is currently serving as chair of the Public Relations Committee of the SC Optometric Physician’s Association (SCOPA).
