The Woodlands at Furman goes a little crazy with “Redneck Party”

March 22, 2013

GREENVILLE, SC – March 22, 2013 – Thursday was no ordinary day at The Woodlands at Furman as the normally reserved senior living community went “redneck” for its restaurants.

The Camelia Room was decorated with beer bottles hung from the ceiling as well as toilet seat covers. The walls had torn up cardboard boxes on them and the tables were covered with red-checkered tablecloths.

Residents feasted on non-traditional Woodlands fare such as pigs in the blanket, pork rinds, cheese straws, crackers with canned cheese, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks and sweet tea served from large pickle jars.

It was all for the “Redneck Party” at The Woodlands at Furman, said Andrea Payment, lifestyles director. The Woodlands at Furman held this event for residents and guests to unwind and have fun by putting a whole new twist on Honey Boo-Boo and Duck Dynasty only the way a senior could.

“This is another way we are making the senior living experience more fun,” Payment said.

The Woodlands at Furman is a non-profit, mission driven continuing care retirement community owned and operated by a local board of directors and managed professionally by Greystone Communities. The 22-acre campus, adjacent to Furman University, opened in March 2009 and consists of 132 apartment homes in addition to 32 assisted living apartments, 16 memory support suites and 30 skilled nursing suites.
