March 21, 2013

Joan Kroc, wife of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, had a clear vision in mind: build state-of-the-art recreational and arts facilities in underserved communities throughout the nation to ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities to grow their natural gifts and talents. Through her bequest and the support of area citizens, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Greenville, SC is a fulfillment of her vision as it strengthens character and encourages positive values consistent with the mission of The Salvation Army.

The 20-acre recreational, cultural and worship facility provides the Greenville Community with family, personal, spiritual and youth services that enrich lives and build community.

We sat down to talk with the Executive Director of the facility, Quenton Tompkins about the Center’s first year of operation and its exciting future.

Personally, the Center combines the three things that I am most passionate about: ministry, community, and youth.
