Greer State Bank was started over two decades ago when twelve Greer businessmen came together with a vision of making a difference in the community where they lived and worked.
Recently, the bank announced that George Burdette has been named CEO replacing Dennis Hennett who retired after serving as CEO of the bank. Hennett will remain a director for Greer Bancshares, Incorporated, and Greer State Bank. Burdette joined Greer State Bank earlier in 2012 and was named President in November of 2012.
We sat down to speak with bank president, George Burdette, about the challenges that the bank has faced over the past years through the financial crisis. Is a community bank still a viable in today’s banking environment?
