PC Athletics Launches iPhone App
October 12, 2012CLINTON, SC – October 12, 2012 – Presbyterian College Athletics and leading technology service provider NeuLion, Inc. announced the launch of the Blue Hose’s new mobile application for the Apple platform.
Powered by PC’s digital platform provider NeuLion technology, the app expands PC’s digital platform by giving fans access to video, audio, statistics, news, rosters, photos and more, all in one convenient app.
We are very excited about having a mobile app, said Brian Reese, PC Director of Athletics. This is the first in a series that will also include an Android app in the next couple of weeks and possibly an iPad app in the near future. These apps are the future of college sports. As the percentage of people with smart phones continues to grow over the next decade, the work we are doing now aggregating our news, broadcasts and videos in a mobile device will pay huge dividends to Presbyterian College and our ability to tell our own story.
Blue Hose fans will now have an enhanced experience to read the latest articles, check scores and schedules, browse photos and dig into detailed player bios. The app also allows fans to follow game action live through either the live audio or live stats features. One of the real strengths of the app is the robust on-demand video library, which will include highlights, press conferences, player features and more. Twitter feeds are also available through the app.
While the app itself is free, there is a one-time fee of $2.99 to access live audio and archived video.
PC becomes just the second school within the Big South Conference to release an iPhone app and the first to feature video and live audio content. The Blue Hose will launch an Android app within the next couple of weeks.
Thanks goes to the Sports Information staff of Simon Whitaker and Ryan Real, who did an excellent job spearheading this effort, as well as to Neulion for creating a great product for the fans to enjoy, Reese said.
With an emphasis on ease of use and access to content anywhere at any time, PC and NeuLion continue to focus on providing the ultimate destination for Blue Hose fans on-the-go.
With NeuLion’s platform, we can take content one time and distribute it to many different consumer devices. Our mobile solution brings the exact same unique personal computing viewing experience to mobile. The look is sleek and seamless. All the features and functionality are the same. Our platform is able to synchronize all the video that is distributed to both the PC and mobile consumer, said Ed O’Brien, Vice President of NeuLion.
