GREENVILLE, SC – May 25, 2012 – Clayton Banner has joined Wyatt Sports, the Upstate’s premier professional athletic planning and training agency, as athletic director.

Clayton brings a wealth of experience and ideas to Wyatt Sports, said David Wyatt, the company’s president. We believe Clayton is the right person to help foster new relationships and help us to continue to grow.

Banner has held positions as head coach, general/team manager, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator in his more than 30 years in collegiate and professional ranks.

As Wyatt Sports’ athletic director, Banner will work with everyone from youth camps to professional athletes.

Banner began his coaching career at Mars Hill College in 1989 with later stops at Guilford College, North Carolina A&T University, West Virginia Tech University, Concord University and Methodist University.

His professional career began in 1993 with the AFL’s Charlotte Rage, where he worked with several of football’s most creative minds including future Tennessee Titans’ coach Jim Washburn, Mississippi State’s Charles Harbison, and offensive mastermind Galen Hall as well as with NFL legends Roman Gabriel and Joe Delamielleure. He later spent time in scouting and player development with the Sacramento Gold Miners, the Edmonton Eskimos, the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League. He most recently served as the director of scouting for the AFL’s Tulsa Talons.

Banner has built a network of football connections that run from New York to Los Angeles, from Houston to Toronto, and Berlin to Moscow.

I am very excited to be joining the Wyatt team, he said. We have a lot of things in the mix.
