Finch and Perry of Greenville Tech Receive Innovation Award
April 11, 2012GREENVILLE, SC – April 11, 2012 – A 2012 Innovation Award was presented to Joy Finch and Rufus Perry of Greenville Technical College, co-managers of the SC Building Operator Certification program in Corporate and Career Development.
Awards were presented by the League for Innovation in the Community Collegeat the organization’s March conference. Each of the League’s member colleges can submit an institutional winner for consideration. The League is an international organization committed to improving community colleges through innovation, experimentation and institutional transformation. The Innovation of the Year competition represents capstone achievements and the continuing renewal of the spirit of innovation and experimentation at community colleges.
Finch and Perry serve as administrators for the SC Building Operato Certification Consortium, which includes Greenville Tech, Trident Tech, and Horry-Georgetown Tech, with leadership from the SC Technical College System.
The SC Building Operator Certification Consortium is funded in part by the SC Energy Office and is offered jointly by the three colleges, sharing instructors across the three campuses.
Building Operator Certification is a nationally recognized, competency-base training and certification program that offers facilities personnel the job skills and knowledge needed to make buildings comfortable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly. Certification establishes a professional
credential for operators and creates opportunities for advancement.
