Spartanburg County Parks Takes on Whitewater with the 13th Annual Tame the Tyger River Race and Festival

SPARTANBURG, SC – There’s not a more beautiful spot in Spartanburg than a view of the Tyger River. On Saturday, April 14th, kayaks and canoes will spotted floating and feverishly paddling as they enjoy the 13th Annual Tame the Tyger River Race and Festival. The event is presented by Tyger River Foundation and put on by the Spartanburg County Parks Department. If you kayak or canoe this is the event for you. If you haven’t spent any time on the Tyger River, this is a great opportunity to start. Watch the floaters and racers finish up at Morris Bridge Road while enjoying boat demos, live bluegrass music, and local barbeque. Visit our website at www.spartanburgparks.org for complete details.
The cost to participate in the recreational float or downriver race is $30 per person. If you choose to come for the festival and watch the race, it’s free!
