Community Day at M&G: View Priceless Works of Art for Free

March 12, 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – In appreciation for our community and Bob Jones University’s alumni, the Museum & Gallery will offer free admission to all guests for “Community Day” on Thursday, March 22, at both the Heritage Green and Bob Jones University museum locations. Open hours are from 2–5 p.m. on-campus and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. at Heritage Green.

Community Day at M&G at Bob Jones University features free passage to another time in history—14th through 19th century Europe! Come explore M&G’s 30 galleries of over 400 Old Master paintings, beginning with the Gothic period, traversing the birth of the Renaissance style, and concluding with the height of Europe’s opulent Baroque art. Also, make sure to stop by the exhibition gallery and view M&G’s featured film, Life & Legacy, a tribute to M&G’s founder Dr. Bob Jones Jr.  In addition, for only $3, you may join us at 3 p.m. for a guided tour, hosted by M&G curator John Nolan.

Not all the wonders of M&G are housed on the University campus. Come behold the beauty of 600 years of Russian iconography at M&G’s downtown location at Heritage Green. The first floor features more than 50 objects including icons that range in scope from the great 14th century Russian artist, Andrei Rublev, to the famed 19th century artist, Fabergé; the exhibit presents beautiful treasures once owned by the Tsars and other Romanov royals. On the second floor, adults and children alike will be thrilled by interactive displays including a recreation of Tsar Nicolas II’s personal study and the multi-media theatre containing timelines of Russian film, ballet, art, and drama.

Whether you’re a regular attender or have never visited the museum before, M&G welcomes you to enjoy Community Day, March 22! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to witness priceless treasures of Russian iconography and one of America’s largest and most unique collections of European Old Master paintings—for free!
