Greenville to host second Applied Theatre Conference in June

GREENVILLE, SC – February 27, 2012 – The Applied Theatre Center will hold its international conference June 28-30, 2012 at the newly constructed Kroc Center in Greenville, S.C. The 2012 Applied Theatre Conference will feature presenters from across the country leading training in six specialized areas: Theatre on the Autism Spectrum, Corporate Theatre, Cross Cultural Missions, Drama Therapy, Forum Theatre (social justice) and Playback Theatre (personal and community development).
 
After a highly successful inaugural meeting last March at North Greenville University, Executive Director Dale Savidge anticipates continued growth at this year’s Applied Theatre Conference.
 
Applied theatre is an exciting, emerging field that melds the social and personal needs of people with the dynamics of live theatre. Our first conference in March 2011 exceeded our expectations by bringing together theatre artists, caregivers and activists for two days of interaction, learning and growth,” Savidge said.
 
“This June, we will expand from four to six discipline tracks and improve the conference in many ways. The Applied Theatre Center is fast becoming a gathering place for people who see the potential of theatre to do good in their communities.”
