TATT to Unveil New Upstate Information Hub at Regional Forum
January 23, 2012UPSTATE, SC – January 20, 2012 – Ten at the Top, an organization created to foster collaboration and partnerships across the Upstate, will formally unveil the new “Upstate Information Hub” as part of the first Our Upstate Vision Forum of 2012, which is free to the public and is being held from 3-5 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the BMW Zentrum.
The Information Hub is the first initiative to come out of the Regional Task Forces that were created following the unveiling of the Our Upstate Vision last April. More than 10,000 Upstate residents contributed to the development of the regional vision and currently nearly 250 residents are participating on the regional task forces.
The Upstate Information Hub was created to provide Upstate residents with an easy place to find links to information, resources, activities and events available across the ten county region. The portal site will include an extensive Events and Activities calendar as well as more than 1,000 links to existing web sites for local resources on everything from starting or growing a business to sustainability tips as well as listings for local governments, utility companies, schools, parks and much more. Initial funding for the site was provided by the Graham Foundation.
Forum attendees will get a behind the scenes look at the new site and learn how to take advantage of the site’s features for their business or organization.
In addition, WSPA anchor Amy Wood will provide insight into her foray into social media and also moderate a panel discussion featuring communication experts who each have a different perspective on the changing ways we communicate news and information across the Upstate.
Panelists include:
Ryan Beck – President and Senior Designer, Mediasation
Steve Brandt – Publisher, The Greenville News
Robbin Phillips – President, Brains on Fire
Bob Romine – General Manager, WSPA Television
Todd Stephens – Director, Spartanburg Library System
The forum is the first of four regional forums that Ten at the Top will host in 2012 on issues related to various components of the Our Upstate Vision.
There is no cost to attend the forum, but attendees are asked to register in advance at www.tenatthetop.org. Registration deadline is January 27th. For more information call Ten at the Top at 864.283.2313.
