Womble Carlyle’s Mike Cashman to Chair Upstate Fatherhood Coalition

December 21, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – December 21, 2011 – Womble Carlyle attorney Mike Cashman has been elected Chairman of the Board for the Upstate Fatherhood Coalition

The Upstate Fatherhood Coalition is non-profit organization created in 2000 by combining the efforts of over 12 existing non-profits and serving the counties in upstate South Carolina by expanding the involvement of fathers in the lives of their children, helping to develop parenting and relationship-building skills, facilitating the creation of team-parenting plans between unmarried mothers and fathers, assisting in the negotiation of child support issues, assisting with employment, and providing opportunities for peer support.

In South Carolina, 41% of children are born to unwed mothers. The fact is that children in homes without fathers are five times more likely to live in poverty.  The goal of the Upstate Fatherhood coalition is to end this cycle and restore fatherhood to our community by providing job readiness, legal education, parenting skills, counseling and peer support and most importantly life skills.

Mike Cashman is an experienced business litigator with a wide-ranging practice. He has represented numerous business clients in consumer financial, class action, insurance defense, as well as appellate and general business litigation matters.
