Deadline Approaching for Grassroots Leadership Development Institute

SPARTANBURG, SC – November 11, 2011 – The Spartanburg County Foundation is currently accepting applications and nominations for the Grassroots Leadership Development Institute 2012 session. 

The Grassroots Leadership Development Institute, a special initiative of The Spartanburg County Foundation, is an intense seven month leadership training program designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skill-set, and resources to be effective in leading change at the grassroots level.  Participants meet one Saturday a month to increase their ability to make a positive difference in their neighborhoods and in the greater Spartanburg community. For the past six years, the City of Spartanburg has joined the Foundation as a sponsor by sending several of the City’s local neighborhood leaders through the Institute, thereby increasing their ability to bring about significant change in their neighborhoods. 

Since its inception in 2004, over 175 individuals have graduated from the Institute and serve the community in various leadership roles.
