Welding program expands at Greenville Tech

GREENVILLE, SC – October 17, 2011 – Greenville Tech’sCorporate and Career Development division has added welding classes withopen entry and exit opportunities in addition to courses with set startand stop dates. These open entry/exit options are designed to providecomplete flexibility for students, allowing them to train at theirconvenience and to tailor training to the type of welding skills theywant to obtain.

Courses offered include Blueprint Reading for Welders, Weld Quality,Maintenance and Repair Welding, Introduction to Welding and MetalSculpting, Stick Welding, Stick Pipe Welding, TIG Welding, TIG PipeWelding, Aluminum TIG Welding, TIG Pipe Welding, TIG/Stick Pipe Welding,MIG Welding, and MIG/Flux Cored Welding.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employers are havingdifficulty finding enough skilled people to fill welding positions. Theoutlook for welders in manufacturing is especially strong due to theimportance and versatility of welding as a manufacturing process. Thebasic skills of welding are the same across many different industries,so welders can move from one industry to another, depending on wherethere are job opportunities.
