Coins that Care program partners with Crisis Center to provide utility bill payments for local families in need

LAURENS COUNTY, SC – October 7, 2011 – The Laurens County Water & Sewer Commission (LCWSC) is pleased to announce that its Coins that Care program has launched a new partnership with the Laurens Baptist Crisis Center.  Coins that Care gives current LCWSC customers the option to round their utility bill up to the next dollar each billing cycle; the extra change is allotted to LCWSC customers for assistance with water or sewer bills.

LCWSC will refer its customers in need of the service to the Laurens Baptist Crisis Center, whose mission is to offer assistance to persons and families in the area experiencing financial hardships. The Center will determine customers’ eligibility and apply funds raised through the Coins that Care program directly to their utility bills.

We are confident that a partnership with the Crisis Center will allow Coins that Care funds to provide faster relief from lingering utility bills for families with high needs in our community, said Bregina Sexton, Customer Service Manager at LCWSC. As winter nears, we know the need for help with utilities will increase. Thanks to the generosity of LCWSC customers, Coins that Care can continue to help our neighbors in need.

This new partnership will be implemented starting in October 2011. All LCWSC customers will receive a bill insert brochure in their October bill.   For more information, please contact LCWSC Customer Service at (864) 682-3250 or visit our website at www.lcwsc.com
