Cindy Youssef Honored by Greenville Business Magazine as Best & Brightest 2011
September 21, 2011GREENVILLE, SC – September, 2011 – Cindy Youssef, Manager, Diversity Leadership Initiative, Riley Institute at Furman University, has been named to the 2011 class of Greenville First’s Best & Brightest 35 and Under and will be honored at an awards ceremony September 27 at the Greenville Little Theatre.
Now in its 18th year, the Greenville Business Magazine program was created to honor Greenville’s young leaders for their professional and community contributions, a mission it still upholds. At the event, the 35 honorees will be granted public recognition for their character, charitable efforts, and workplace successes.
Nominations for the award were accepted from throughout the Upstate, and submissions were evaluated by a panel composed of Tan Kirby Davis of Kirby Resource Group, Judith Prince of USC Upstate, and Mike Posey of the United Way. Selections were made based on professional achievements, community contributions, and educational background.
In addition to receiving an award at the gala celebration, the Best & Brightest winners will be treated to a high-speed circuit on the driving course at the BMW Performance Center.
About Cindy Youssef
Greenville native Cindy Youssef focuses on making Greenville a more tolerant and inclusive city. She oversees the South Carolina Diversity Leaders Initiative (SCDLI), a statewide diversity management program which helps business leaders develop diversity frameworks and develop best practices. Cindy works with area Chambers of Commerce to organize and host the annual Upstate Diversity Leadership Awards dinner, which recognizes the achievements of individuals and businesses in promoting diversity. Cindy has developed several partnerships for the Riley Institute within the community, including the USC School of Medicine-Greenville. After obtaining a master’s degree in international relations and diplomacy from Australia’s Monash University on a Rotary Ambassadorial scholarship, Cindy returned to Greenville to help found Greenville Rotaract, the first Rotary club for young professionals, and currently serves as vice president. Cindy is youth coordinator at St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church and is a board member for the Alliance for Collaboration with the Hispanic Community (ACCH) and the South Carolina Diversity Council. Cindy is a recipient of the 2011 YWCA Dream Achiever Award.
