August 11, 2011$3.2 million investment expected to create upwards of 50 new jobs
GREENVILLE, SC – August 11, 2011 – The Greenville Area DevelopmentCorporation, charged with promoting and enhancing quality of life inGreenville County by facilitating job growth and investment, hasannounced that Adams Scrap Recycling LLC, will expand its operations inGreenville County. The $3.2 million investment is expected to generate50 new jobs.
A specialist in metal recycling and a major supplier to OmniSourceSoutheast, a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics Inc., Adams Scrap Recyclingplans to purchase property adjacent to the company’s current location onOld Easley Highway, more than doubling the physical footprint of theoperation. The company already has added a portable car logger, anEnvirorack to dispose of hazardous fluids in vehicles, and trucks andtrailers to increase efficiency. The additional property will also addrail access, enabling Adams to serve customers across the state.

Rodney Adams organized Adams Scrap in October 2009 and Kamal Desorbecame a partner in the business in January 2011, while general managerRajesh Desor has worked in the industry since his youth. The Desors seetheir expanded operations as a way to help Greenville play its part byreducing waste and educating the community on advancing a culture ofrecycling, while also providing quality jobs to the community, addedRajesh Desor.

Metal recyclers in the United States process approximately 120million tons of various metals each year, generating an industryestimated at more than $60 billion in the United States alone.
While Adams has been a major recycler of all sorts of metals andmetal products, the company is seeking to diversify and grow itsrecycling of glass, paper, plastics and electronics with the expansion.
