Smith Moore Leatherwood Attorney Rob Moseley Awarded by Transportation Lawyers Association for Distinguished Service

June 10, 2011

GREENVILLE, SC – June 9, 2011 – Smith Moore Leatherwood attorney Rob Moseley was presented with the Transportation Lawyers Association’s Distinguished Service Award at the group’s annual meeting on Friday, May 13, 2011.  The award is given for outstanding contributions to the association and to the trucking industry as a whole.

“I am humbled and honored to have received this award from the Transportation Lawyers Association,” said Moseley.  “I’ve been a part of the organization for over 10 years and was pleasantly surprised by the recognition.”

Moseley is the head of the Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Transportation Industry Group representing trucking companies and their insurance carriers, with disputes involving commercial transportation accidents, federal and state safety regulations, commercial insurance coverage disputes, freight claims and other disputes involving trucking companies.

“We are extremely proud of Rob and his exemplary representation of Smith Moore Leatherwood in the transportation industry,” said Tod Hyche, partner in charge of the firm’s Greenville office, where Moseley is based.  “He has acted as a leader in the industry for years, and this Distinguished Service Award is well deserved.”

A graduate of The Citadel and the University of South Carolina School of Law, Moseley has tried over 60 cases to jury verdict in federal and state courts of unlimited jurisdiction.  He also serves at national counsel for several insurance companies and regional and national motor carriers, managing active litigation in 20 to 30 states at any given time.  Moseley works closely with Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Corporate Group in advising trucking companies on how to proactively assess and address risk both internally and externally, as well as how to plan for growth and development.  In representing the transportation industry, much of his practice is devoted to serving insurance companies, specifically the defense of catastrophic automobile accidents and other cases being defended by insurance carriers.  He is also active in pursuing and defending insurance coverage disputes and disputes involving owner-operators.
