Home Builders Institute Request for Proposals for delivery of mentoring services

June 16, 2010

GREENVILLE, SC – June 16, 2010 – In late March 2010, Home BuildersInstitute(HBI), the workforce development arm of the NationalAssociation of Home Builders, was awarded a national mentoring grant bythe U.S. Department of Justice/Office of Juvenile Justice andDelinquency Prevention (DOJ).  Over the next three years, ourinitiative, C-CORE (Construction-Coaching Opportunities for ReentryEmployment), will match 5,000 youth with caring and committed adults in11 states and 35 communities.  Our goal is to broaden horizons andengage youth, as they consider possible careers in the home buildingindustry.  We are encouraging youth enrolled in HBI Job Corps andWorkforce Training and Employment programs, as well as other youngpeople from high schools, juvenile justice agencies, and community-basedprograms, to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to learn moreabout the home building industry and to engage in public service.

We are seeking proposals from organizations, which will serve as HBIintermediaries, to help in the recruitment of volunteers and youth andprovide mentor training.  If your organization is interested inpartnering with HBI or if you know of other organizations that may be,please see the attached Request for Proposal for Mentoring Services.  Allrequired information for responding to the request is contained in theattached file.

We are very excited about the prospects for helping thousands of youthto “build a better life” in careers in the home building industry. HBIlooks forward to working with you and others, as we undertake this newindustry-sponsored initiative.

Thank you for your interest in working with HBI.
