Anti- Boeing Group Response to Lord Questions and Challenge: Silence & Quick Crawl Back Under the Rock

April 29, 2010

GREENVILLE, SC – April 27, 2010 – Earlier today Republican candidate for Attorney General Leighton Lord held a news conference responding to the anti-Boeing ads that mention him being run by the American Future Fund.  He asked the leaders, donors, and members of the American Future Fund to reveal themselves, admit their agenda, and answer the burning question of whether they have any South Carolina membership or support at all. Lord further challenged any South Carolina representative of the of the group to debate him face to face at a time and place of their choosing.  The shadowy Washington, DC special interest group’s non-answer came shortly after the conclusion of the news conference.

After issuing the questions and challenge, Lord stated the following, “I don’t expect this group to come forward.  I actually expect them to crawl back under whatever rock they came from in Washington, DC and avoid this debate.”

In fact, that is exactly what they did. The ads are off the air, the website which hosted the anti-Boeing radio and television ads (www.boeingbailout.com) was immediately deactivated, and they even pulled the anti-Boeing television ad that mentions Lord off of YouTube within minutes of the challenge.

Lord commented, “I had hoped the American Future Fund and its out of state special interest backers would answer my questions and meet my challenge, but I cannot say that I am surprised by their deafening silence.  They have moved back under the cool, anonymous darkness of their Washington, DC rock home.  I said before ‘those involved in questionable behavior are afraid of having a light shined upon them.’ Whether as a private citizen or your Attorney General, I want everyone to know that I can always be counted on to shine that light, especially when South Carolina’s economic best interests are being attacked from outside our border by those with a hidden agenda.”
