Columbia Compass: Envision 2036 – February Public Open Houses
The City of Columbia will host two public open houses to share what the project team has learned from citizen input and research during the first phase of Columbia Compass, the ten-year update to the City of Columbia’s comprehensive plan. Recommendations on how to implement the vision defined during the first phase of the planning process will also be shared, and your feedback is requested. This 12 to the 18-month effort will result in a plan that the City’s citizens and policymakers can use as a blueprint to help navigate our future.
Your continued input is vital on the policies, programs, and infrastructure investments we have identified as necessary to make your ten-year vision for Columbia a reality. Two identical drop-in format public open houses will be held as follows, and we hope you can come:
Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 5:30-8:30 pm, Woodland Park Gym, Columbia, SC 29209
Wednesday, February 13, 2019, 5-8pm, Richland Library Main, Auditorium, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201
The planning process will result in a vision and document which can help guide City Council as they Envision 2036 – when Columbia will celebrate its 250th year, or semiquincentennial. Elements of the plan research and analysis will include Columbia’s population, natural resources, land use, transportation, housing, community facilities, cultural resources, and economic development.
