Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands announces 105 men pledge to take a stand against sexual violence in the Midlands

December 11, 2018
Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) announced 105 men in the Midlands have pledged more than $10,000 to take a stand against sexual violence in the community.
Dr. Ronald Rhames, Midlands Technical College President
100 Men Against Sexual Assault is a campaign that harnesses the collective impact of men in the Midlands to create change. In its third year, the 100 Men campaign has raised more than $30,000 to support STSM’s mission of advocating for and supporting survivors of sexual assault.
“I support STSM because I want to do what I can to make a positive impact through awareness and education,” Dr. Ronald Rhames, Midlands Technical College President, said. “Helping the community become more educated and understanding about sexual violence is one of the first steps in preventing it in the Midlands.”
Fathers, brothers, husbands, doctors, pastors, businessmen, and educators – each man has their own reason why they took the pledge because each plays their own role in society.
Joel Samuels, USC School of Law Professor and Director of the Rule of Law Collaborative
“Now more than ever, it is important for men to stand up and speak as a united voice against sexual violence and support survivors,” Joel Samuels, Professor of Law and Director of the Rule of Law Collaborative at the University of South Carolina, said. “I support STSM and the 100 Men Campaign because the Midlands needs the support of the entire community to ensure that survivors are given a voice and meaningful opportunities to heal.”
STSM thanks each man who has pledged to take a stand against sexual violence in the Midlands and be a positive role model for others in the community. Together, we can end sexual violence.
