Due to an increase of inquiry and interest, South Carolina residents will soon be able to utilize the County of Lexington Clerk of Court’s Office to apply for new passports.

Clerk of Court Lisa Comer said the office will be reinstated to accept new passport applications on July 2, 2018 and will begin accepting the applications by appointment only the following week to ensure system efficiency.

South Carolina residents can set up an appointment with the Clerk of Court’s Office beginning on July 9, 2018. The appointments will be held between Mondays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Clerk of Court’s office on the first floor of the Marc H. Westbrook Judicial Center, located at 205 East Main St. in Lexington, Comer said.

Residents who are interested in applying for a new passport can visit travel.state.gov to find out what forms are needed for a successful submittal. Residents with additional questions can also call the County’s Clerk of Court’s Office at (803) 785-8393.
