Universal Forest Products to open new facility in Orangeburg County

Manufacturing Plant to Create Approximately 120 New Jobs Over the Next Several Years

Gov. Henry McMaster and the S.C. Department of Commerce announced that Universal Forest Products, a provider of wood and wood-related products, plans to open a manufacturing facility in Orangeburg County. Operating as UFP Cameron, LLC, the $6.1 million facility is projected to create more than 120 new jobs over the next several years.

UFP Cameron, LLC will be located at 106 Logistics Drive in Cameron, S.C. and is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of 2018. The facility will be dedicated to manufacturing products for the industrial market.

Its parent company, Universal Forest Products, Inc., is a nearly $4 billion public company (NASDAQ: UFPI) that was founded in 1955 and supplies the retail, industrial and construction markets. The firm has approximately 130 facilities in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. Additionally, a $500,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant was also awarded to Orangeburg County to assist with the costs of building improvements.
