1 retirement + Hilary Morgan = winning formula

During its Feb. 20, 2018 Board Meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Hilary P. Morgan to the position of mathematics coordinator in Central Services effective July 1, 2018. Morgan replaces Dianne Steelman who is retiring after 41 years with Lexington District One.

With 17 years of educational experience, Morgan began her career in 2001 as an eighth-grade mathematics teacher at White Knoll Middle School. While there, she also served as mathematics department chair and mathematics coach.

Since 2010, she’s supported middle school teachers across the district as a middle school mathematics instructional coach.

Morgan earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a Master of Education in divergent learning from Columbia College. A National Board Certified Teacher, she holds certifications in secondary and middle-level mathematics and a gifted and talented certificate endorsement.

She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics, South Carolina Leaders of Mathematics Education and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.

Morgan presented at meetings of the S.C. Council of Teachers of Mathematics, served on many district and state curriculum writing committees and working groups, and taught a mathematics curriculum writing graduate-level course for Lexington District One employees through the College of Charleston.
