Hope for the Warriors promotes Karen Lee to Vice President of Advancement

January 30, 2018

After just five months with the organization, Karen Lee has been promoted to vice president of advancement of Hope For The Warriors.

Celebrating more than 11 years of service, Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for post-9/11 veterans, service members and military families.

With more than 20 years of marketing and communications experience, Lee began working with Hope For The Warriors as its senior director of communications in August 2017.

Since then, the Edgefield resident has been responsible for leading the communications team into a new well-being model of organizational collaboration and messaging, developing a budget to promote growth in digital media and video storytelling and strengthening brand recognition and quality as well as brand differentiation from other military nonprofits.

In her new position, Lee will be responsible for her current duties in addition to working with the vice president of well-being to execute Hope For The Warriors’ organizational strategy. She will also steer the community development and community engagement teams to lead the nonprofit’s advancement strategy while supporting and promoting the growth of the services under the well-being model.

“Karen brings a level of professionalism and leadership that will serve as great inspiration for her team,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president/CEO of Hope For The Warriors. “Advancement is much more comprehensive than fundraising, it is also about advancing our message for the military community and Karen fully understands the role. She brings a new strength to our efforts and we are all thrilled to have her in this important position.”

The Alabama native has spent the majority of her professional career in the hunting/conservation industry serving as the founding editor for three print publications for the National Wild Turkey Federation, Women in the Outdoors, Wheelin’ Sportsmen and Turkey Country.

In her last post at the National Wild Turkey Federation, Lee served as the vice president of communications where she led all communication initiatives, programs, and activities for the nonprofit’s website, television, advertising, and public relations, in addition to planning the organization’s annual convention and sports show.

“Very few things are as rewarding than knowing your work helps make a positive difference in the lives of others,” said Lee. “I am excited to lead the advancement team during this time of growth for Hope For The Warriors, as we strive daily to do more for military and veteran families.”
