Pawmetto Lifeline receives $98,690 from PetSmart Charities to fuel spay and neuter efforts in Columbia

January 24, 2018

Pawmetto Lifeline announced it received $98,690 from PetSmart Charities, the largest funder of animal welfare in North America, to help fuel its spay and neuter efforts in the Midlands of South Carolina. With the help of this donation, the organization will complete 1,581 Spay/Neuter surgeries.

The funds will be put to use with four separate month-long spay/neuter campaigns: “Beat the Heat” (female cats), “Summer of Snip (male dog or cat), “Precious not Parents” (puppies & kittens), and “Primp Your Pit” (bully breeds). “Beat the Heat” will kick off February 1st with a $20 spay surgery special for female cats.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous gift from PetSmart Charities,” says Denise Wilkinson, CEO of Pawmetto Lifeline.  “This gift will benefit puppies, kittens, cats, dogs, & bully breeds. Spaying and neutering is the only way we can control the homeless pet population and stop thousands of animals from dying every year in the Midlands.”

PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness through increased spay and neuter efforts.  With the help of animal welfare partners, such as Pawmetto Lifeline, PetSmart Charities has funded over 1.7 million spay and neuter surgeries in the U.S. since 2009.
