December 20, 2017

Mike Satterfield was elected as 2018 President of the Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina (BIA), at the Annual Meeting of the Membership held October 10, 2017. He will assume the duties of President in January 2018.

Born in Greenville, SC, Mr. Satterfield attended Parker High School and then took a job as an Assistant Superintendent at the Westminister Company. His responsibilities grew until he became chief of the company’s multi-family division. In 1989 he started with Centex Homes where he stayed until 2006 and was Central SC Division President.

Mr. Satterfield then co-founded Satterfield, Chavis & Sons in 2006. Difficult economic times led to the closing of that company in 2013 and he then went to work with Great Southern Homes. He is currently Executive VP and CEO of the company. In the past thirty nine years he has supervised the construction of 1,000 apartment homes; the development of 5,000 residential lots and 10,000 new homes.

After being a member of the association for many years Mr. Satterfield joined the BIA Board of Directors in 2015 as a Builder Director and then moved to Secretary in 2016 and Treasurer in 2017. In addition to his duties on the board, he is very involved in the BIA Golf Classic and in building the membership of the association. In fact, he sponsored the most new members this year and was named the 2017 Frank D. Clark SPIKE of the Year. In recognition of all he has accomplished, the membership voted him the 2017 Builder Member of the Year.

Mr. Satterfield lives in Chapin with his wife, Claudia. They have one son, Skyler, and they attend Chapin Methodist church. When he’s not working or at a BIA Meeting, he enjoys hunting and fishing. He is past President of the Quality Deer Management Association – Chapin/Newberry Branch.
