Homeownership for Veterans event Saturday Nov 18th

The South Carolina National Association of Real Estate Brokers (SCNAREB) is hosting a Veterans Homeownership workshop on this upcoming Saturday from 11am to 2pm at Zion Baptist Church at 801 Washington Street, next to the Columbia Police station. The South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, the local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), is sponsoring a “Homeownership for Veterans” event to encourage the nation’s approximately 20 million Black veterans to learn more about the homeownership process, how to use the VA homebuying benefit, and to promote homeownership as the best avenue to build wealth and long-term financial security for their families. SCNAREB was formed in Columbia in 1974 to secure the right to equal housing opportunities for all regardless of race, creed, or color, under its banner, “Democracy in Housing”. SCNAREB’s purpose for holding this event is to increase financial literacy, promote sustainable homeownership, self-sufficiency, and to increase the homeownership for Veterans. It is our goal the Homeownership for Veterans program willl:
- Educate, support and offer resources to first-time home buyers and veterans
- Provide credit counseling and promote the advantages of savings
- Educate, support, and offer resources to sellers and real estate investors
- Offer loan modification guidance
- Introduce the financial benefits of insurance, trusts, and wills
- Provide financial literacy education to youth
- Provide information of value to veterans and their families
