Keith Shah, Ph.D., joins Palmetto Health as system vice president for Data and Analytics

Keith Shah, Ph.D., will join Palmetto Health as system vice president for Data and Analytics. In his role, Shah will have a unique opportunity to serve in multiple leadership capacities within Palmetto Health, the Palmetto Health Quality Collaborative (PHQC) and the Care Coordination Institute (CCI). The PHQC is Palmetto Health’s clinically integrated network of nearly 1,200 physicians focused on driving targeted improvements in health care quality and efficiency. CCI is a joint venture between Palmetto Health and Greenville Health System developing innovative solutions to support population health management.

Dr. Shah will work to further enhance the linkage of Palmetto Health with the Palmetto Health-USC Medical Group, the PHQC and CCI. He has extensive experience in operations and financial management, change management, business and organizational development, process improvement, population health and strategic planning. In addition, he has experience in both the provider and payer environments. We are excited Dr. Shah has agreed to join the Palmetto Health family.”
Shah, known in the health care industry as a strategist with deep data-driven business development experience, comes to Palmetto Health from FTI Consulting in Washington, D.C. There he was a senior managing director for the firm and chief strategy officer for their Center for Healthcare Economics and Policy. Prior to this, he worked for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina for 15 years, where he was an officer within their Corporate Planning and Strategic Services division.
Shah retains adjunct faculty appointments and teaches a range of graduate courses at George Washington University, University of South Carolina and A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. Shah also previously held positions at Greenville Health System and Clemson University.
Shah holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and operations management from Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a master’s degree in human resource development (MHRD); and, an MBA in quantitative analysis from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. in health services policy and management from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. Shah has served on a variety of community service organizations and is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina. He currently serves on the executive committee for EngenuitySC and on the advisory board for the USC Arnold School of Public Health.
Shah, his wife, Laura, and their three children look forward to being back in Columbia.
