District Five SAT scores among the top in the state

Lexington-Richland School District Five has the second highest SAT scores among school districts in South Carolina.
The district’s composite score was 1,115, which is higher than the state average of 1,058 and the national average of 1,044. District Five students have scored above the state and national average each year on record since 1988.
District Five Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hefner said, “Being a leader in SAT scores is a testament to the laser focus we have on instruction and the district’s commitment to ensuring all students are ready for success in college and careers.”
The new SAT report mirrors other predictors for how well the district is preparing students for college. Data release in September showed that District Five’s Class of 2017 had an ACT average composite score of 20.6, which is above the state average of 18.7. Nineteen students have been named National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists for the current school year, and the district has again been named the No. 1 school district in South Carolina by Niche.com.
District Five Chief Instructional Officer Dr. Christina Melton said, “This does not happen without the combined efforts of our students, parents, teachers, staff and community. We will continue to strive for excellence and success for all our students.”
