Mayor’s Walk to collect toiletries and gift cards for Sistercare, Inc.

September 28, 2017

The 11th Annual Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence will not only raise awareness about the abuse and impact of domestic violence in our community, it will also provide an opportunity for the City of Columbia to collect toiletries and gift cards for Sistercare, Inc.

Sistercare, Inc. is a private, non-profit 501©3 United Way agency that provides shelter and support services to nearly 7,000 domestic violence survivors and their children in Richland, Lexington, Kershaw, Newberry and Fairfield Counties.

Mayor Pro Tem Tameika Isaac Devine says, “Because of the great work that Sistercare, Inc. performs in our community, we ask that everyone participating in the walk bring toiletry items on the Sistercare, Inc. wish list or gift cards on Saturday, Oct. 7. Sistercare, Inc. can also utilize gift cards so survivors can go to local stores, sometimes for the first time, and make purchases on their own.”
