SCAHU’s Annual Symposium

The South Carolina Association of Health Underwriters (SCAHU) held its Annual Symposium on January 26-27 in Columbia, SC. The theme of the meeting was “Preparing for the Future, Back to SCAHU’s Future.” More than 200 health insurance professionals from across the state attended.

SCAHU’s goal is to consistently help members provide solutions to their clients and consumers through education and networking with the top industry professionals across South Carolina.

SCAHU Symposium speakers discussed preparations for changes affecting health insurance and employee benefits professionals that come with a new administration in Washington, D.C. SCAHU Symposium speakers included Jonathan Hudgens (The Cason Group, Inc.), Director Ray Farmer (South Carolina Department of Insurance), James D’Alessio, Esq. (BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina), President James Stenger (National Association of Health Underwriters), CEO Janet Trautwein (National Association of Health Underwriters), Retired Lieutenant Colonel James Lechner (Battle of Mogadishu), Dr. Joseph Von Nessen (University of South Carolina) and creative entrepreneur Jason Broadwater (RevenFlo).

“Just as the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) does nationally, SCAHU continues to lead the South Carolina industry with positive influence as our businesses continue to change and evolve,” said SCAHU President Eric Wells.

SCAHU is a nonprofit professional associ­ation made up of benefits experts dedicated to professional development and industry advocacy. SCAHU represents over 1,000 licensed health insurance agents, brokers, general agents, consultants and employee benefit specialists statewide. SCAHU is affiliated with the National Association Health Underwriters.
