Over the next month, Elite Nutrition and Performance wscreen-shot-2016-12-02-at-3-30-01-pmill be releasing a video each week on a new push-up for you to try at home or the gym.  Push-ups are a classic body weight workout that has been used forever to test strength and endurance. Schools use them in fitness tests, coaches to train their athletes, and the military to train our soldiers.

One of the best things about push-ups is how universal they are, and the wide range of muscles they target. Your chest, arms, shoulders, and core are all involved.  Another great quality is that you can do a push-up anywhere! On vacation, in the office, or traveling for work you can get in a whole workout by doing push-ups. If implemented into your workout program correctly you can use them for strength training, cardio conditioning, core stability, or upper body stability.  Not to mention, when done correctly, it looks pretty darn impressive!

The push-up’s versatility has inspired us to create a video series that highlights four different types of push-ups with unique characteristics that, together, will make you lean and mean.  The four push-up types featured will be: (1) a cardio push-up, (2) a power push-up, (3) a combo push-up, and (4) a stability push-up.  For our first week, we will be focusing on the cardio option—stay tuned for the other three in weeks to come!

By simply changing a movement or adding resistance you can change the entire dynamic of a push-up. At Elite Nutrition and Performance we love push-ups and incorporate them into all of our clients programs. There is a need and benefit for everyone to be able to do a push-up.
