Boyer Construction breaks ground on Arts and Recreation for Sandhills School

Boyer Commercial Construction, Inc. broke ground Wednesday on a new Arts and Recreation facility for Sandhills School. The 18,000 square foot, $2.2 million project features a performing arts stage, basketball gym, classrooms, weight room, multi-purpose rooms, and outdoor living areas.
Sandhills School is a not-for-profit, co-educational day school for children first through twelfth grades. Located at 1500 Hallbrook Drive in Southeast Columbia, the Sandhills School campus consists of 22 partially wooded acres including a pond, wilderness trails, wildlife, protected beehives, sports fields and a playground. Sandhills School provides the foremost learning environment for students who learn differently and is the only school in Columbia that has the prestigious Orton-Gillingham Accreditation.
The Sandhills School Arts & Recreation Center will consist of a state of the art maple basketball court with retractable goals, a fine arts performance stage, class rooms, meeting areas, weight room, and an outdoor social gathering area with fireplace. The exterior of the structure will be a combination of brick veneer and EIFS with an adjacent outdoor basketball court and tennis practice facility.
