SC Chamber applauds Senate approval of bill to shorten legislative session

April 7, 2016

COLUMBIA, SC – State Chamber of Commerce President Ted Pitts released the following statement applauding Senate approval of S.267, a bill that would shorten the legislative session. The South Carolina Chamber has listed S.267 as a Key Vote on its 2016 Legislative Scorecard. The bill will now go to the House for its approval:

“South Carolina has one of the longest legislative sessions in the country which has served as a deterrent to many qualified business men and women who would otherwise be interested in joining our citizen legislature. The business community has long supported a shorter legislative session to improve efficiency and to allow individuals from more professions to serve. We applaud the Senate for its passage of S.267 and look forward to working with the House to move this bill through the process.”
