26th Annual Midlands Heart Ball set for February 20th

February 17, 2016

The American Heart Association will host the 2016 Midlands Heart Ball this Saturday, February 20th at 6:30 pm at the South Carolina State Museum.

One of the most anticipated social events of the year, the Midlands Heart Ball honors the mission of the American Heart Association as well as the donors, volunteers, and lives saved or improved due to the work of the Midlands community. Proceeds from this annual black-tie event benefit the American Heart Association’s fight against heart disease and stroke, which are the leading causes of death and disability in South Carolina.

This year, the Heart Ball, chaired by Jan Jernigan of Morgan Stanley, will feature an elegant evening of live and silent auctions, dancing, dinner, and will bring together over 350 influential leaders from the corporate, philanthropic and medical communities. The evening promises to be an engaging evening of fun and passion. The 2016 Midlands Heart Ball is proudly co – sponsored by LOVE Automotive.

Although this event contributes to the great strides which have been made in the fight against heart disease and stroke each year, there is still much work to be done. Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of all Americans and stroke is the 5th leading cause of death in South Carolina. Each day nearly 2,200 Americans die from cardiovascular disease, an average of one death every 39 seconds.  In line with the national American Heart Association Mission, the 2016 Midlands Heart Ball is one of many initiatives to raise awareness, increase prevention, and build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
