Round Top Elementary excels at fundraiser & donates to schools affected by SC flood

February 4, 2016

Round Top Elementary (RTE) teamed up with the Boosterthon Fun Run to raise extra funds needed for the school. Boosterthon, established in 2001, reinvented the fundraising industry transforming the way schools go about it. Today, students are no longer selling products door-to-door. Instead they are benefiting from a fun, interactive program that impacts schools, develops leaders and raises money.

Thanks to the Round Top Elementary staff, Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), students, and all of the parents and donors, this year’s RTE Boosterthon fundraiser was a huge success! The PTO collected 95% of what was pledged and profited over $20,000. Students also received pledges from 45 countries, which is a Boosterthon national record.

The funds are used for classroom and school needs. This year, due to the intense and historic SC Flood disaster, the PTO designated 50% of the profit to assist 2 local schools that suffered. Hundreds of homes close to these schools were destroyed and billions of dollars in damage accumulated. On February 1st, the Round Top administration, PTO and top student fundraisers presented donations to South Kilbourne Elementary and Bradley Elementary each totaling $5,167.10.

“It was such a pleasure to watch our students present such a sizable gift to their peers in need. Visiting Bradley and South Kilbourne allowed us to make the experience even more meaningful. These types of events make an indelible impact on students’ school memories,” Jeaneen Tucker, Round Top Elementary’s Principal, said.
