12 Must-Read Books for 2016 ~ Successful people are lifelong learners
January 4, 2016By Jerry Bellune
Successful people are lifelong learners
Over the next 4 weeks I’ll suggest 12 books to you.
These are books written by expert authorities.
They contain their most successful ideas.
They have shown us the way to greater success.
They can do that for you and your business, too.
• Ice to the Eskimos
Here’s a challenge for you:
How do you sell products no one wants?
In this book, marketer Jon Spoelstra shows how.
His New Jersey Nets were the NBA’s worst team.
They were money losers. Dead broke.
Few fans. Low ticket and hot dog sales. You name it.
Jon sat with the fans and got to know them.
They gave him ideas of how to attract more fans.
We have faced that in taking over losing companies.
The first thing we did was strategic listening.
We learned what people wanted and gave it to them.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Stephen Covey’s book has changed lives.
The 7 habits include his best thinking on:
• Taking charge of your life and work.
• Becoming an active community leader.
• Beginning with the end in mind.
• Putting top priorities first.
These are just four of the seven habits.
We attribute our success to practicing all of them.
• Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap … and Others Don’t
Good is the enemy of great, Jim Collins writes.
To be great, you must give up just being good.
You must commit to being nothing less than great.
Collins gives examples to show how others did it.
Sure, it takes determination and work to be great..
But he gives you road maps to get there yourself.
He researched companies that achieved great results.
Not only that, they sustained it at least 15 years.
He shows what the good-to-great companies did.
He also shows how others failed to make the leap.
Great teams aren’t willing to just be good.
Great people find others whose wisdom helps them.
That’s what Master Minding is all about.

Next: What separates successes from other people?
Want to share this with a friend? Be my guest.
We only ask that you tell them where it came from.

I’ll email this strategy letter to them each week.
