Community Broadcasters, LLC purchases four radio stations from Glory Communications, Inc.

December 16, 2015

Alex Snipe, President and owner of Glory Communications, Inc., has sold four of his radio stations in the Florence, Sumter and Orangeburg, South Carolina markets to Community Broadcasters, LLC, headquartered in New York and co-owned and operated by Jim Leven and Bruce Mittman in partnership with Northwood Ventures in Long Island, NY.

“I’ve spent nearly three decades building my career in broadcasting and am so proud of what we achieved with Glory Communications. Knowing that Jim and Bruce are focused on being the voice of the community, I’m very confident with the decision to sell these four signals to Community Broadcasting.” says Alex Snipe.

“We’re thrilled to support our current holdings in South Carolina with this acquisition. In September, we doubled the size of Community Broadcasters with the purchase of Miller Communications in South Carolina, adding 12 radio stations, 7 translators and 3 TV construction permits in Orangeburg, Sumter and Florence, South Carolina. These four new signals will continue to fill in these fast-growing markets.” says Jim Leven.

“We established Community Broadcasters in 2006 with the vision to focus on local news, sports and area events, not just syndicated programming. Both Jim and I feel strongly about giving back to the communities we serve through public service and charitable contributions”, says Bruce Mittman. “Our local stations are considered great places to work and we intend to extend that corporate culture to our new South Carolina stations,” adds Leven.

Bruce Mittman also owns and operates Boston-based Mittcom, a full-service advertising agency representing brands such as Subaru of New England, The Paper Store, Empire Loan, Laer Realty, Pure Hockey, Boch Enterprises and Patch Products, a leading manufacturer of toys and specialty line products.

Community Broadcasters has filed all transfer applications with the FCC and are awaiting final approval. They will begin operating the four signals purchased from Glory Communications’ on today and plan to continue the current format at each of these stations.
