Columbia Museum of Art Contemporaries announces 2016 Silver Screen Affair

December 15, 2015

Tickets are now on sale for the annual fundraising gala on February 20, 2016

The Columbia Museum of Art Contemporaries announced an Old Hollywood-theme for their annual fundraising gala scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.The annual gala is the Contemporaries’ signature event and is expected to draw a crowd of over 400 to participate in the group’s major fundraiser for its art acquisition projects.

“We wanted to create an event theme for this year that embodies the glamour and glitz of the 1920s in Tinseltown,” said Caroline Jones who, along with Justin Drafts, chairs this year’s event. “We’re grateful to our amazing sponsors who are helping us to ensure the silver screen affair lives up to Columbia’s famously hot reputation.”

After walking the red carpet and striking a pose for the waiting paparazzi, guests will experience an evening worthy of Gatsby himself with a night of 1920s fashion. The evening will feature a silent auction showcasing art from the collections of local and regional South Carolina artists. In addition to bidding on the chance to take home a piece of the night, partygoers will enjoy culinary delights by Hudson’s Classic Catering, experience show-stopping event design by Cricket Newman, and dance the night away to live music by Finesse.

Tickets are $55 / $100 for individual/couples Contemporaries’ members and $75 / $135 for individual/couples non-member tickets. All proceeds from the event benefit the Contemporaries Art Acquisition Fund so that it may continue its success in participating in the acquisition of pieces such as those most recently acquired from Dale Chihuly, George Tooker, and Henry Mandell. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.columbiamuseum.org/happenings.

Sponsorship opportunities are also currently available. For more information, please contact Sean Foerster at [email protected].
