October 19, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC —Sparkleberry Country Fair Chairman John Monroe recently presented a $15,000 check to district Superintendent Dr. Debbie Hamm. The check represents proceeds from the 2015 Sparkleberry Country Fair and will fund 28 teacher grants for projects throughout Richland School District Two.

The grants will fund a wide range of projects including the purchase of eight Kindles for Kids at the Center for Inquiry, the development of a therapeutic garden at Westwood High School and topsoil kits for students at Dent Middle School, who will be studying soil health at a nearby lake. Twenty-eight out of 89 proposed projects received funding.

All proceeds from the Sparkleberry Country Fair benefit Richland Two students and teachers. In the spring of 2016, Richland Two graduating high school students will be awarded $1,000 college scholarships from money also raised from the 2015 fair.  The Sparkleberry Country Fair is held annually the last Saturday in April.  The 2016 fair, which is celebrating its 21st year, is scheduled for April 30, 2016.
