Gilbane Takes Home Two CMAA Project Achievement Awards
July 6, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – Gilbane Building Company, a global leader in construction, was recognized for their outstanding projects with two Project Achievement Awards by the South Atlantic Chapter of The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA). Gilbane won in the categories of private commercial building in new construction less than $30 million for the Restoration Hardware’s Gallery at the Estate in Buckhead, Atlanta, Ga., and for public building renovation constructed value for less than $20 million for The South Carolina State Museum Windows to New Worlds, Columbia, S.C.

Restoration Hardware’s flagship store is located in the ultra-chic Atlanta neighborhood ofBuckhead. Standing six stories high and 70,000 square feet with multiple rooftops, this “contemporary” southern estate design is a symbol for creative vision in the construction industry. The building’s exterior has high-end venetian-style plaster adorned with terrace gardens, granite courtyards and fountains. The interior features a large atrium with a grand, six-story, and steel staircase.
The historic addition to the South Carolina State Museum included distinct components such as a new 22,000-square-foot, 150-seat digital dome planetarium; the state’s first 4-D interactive theater; and a new observatory dome which houses the museum’s 1926 Alvan Clark 12-3/8″ refracting telescope.

The annual South Atlantic Chapter Construction Management Project Achievement Awards program recognizes outstanding achievement in the practice of construction management and promotes professionalism and excellence in the management of the construction process.
