Midlands Organizations to Host Landlord Forum to End Area Homelessness

COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 22, 2015) – United Way of the Midlands along with the Columbia Housing Authority, Midlands Area Consortium for the Homeless and William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center are partnering to host the area’s first Affordable Housing and Landlord Forum on Wednesday, June 24 from 9 -10 a.m. at the Cecil Tillis Training Center located at 2111 Simpkins Lane in Columbia.
This event is designed to kick off the Zero:2016 Campaign to End Veteran and Chronic Homelessness in the Midlands and educate property owners, landlords and housing developers about the need for more affordable housing in the Midlands.
Attendees will be given an overview of the housing programs offered by the Columbia Housing Authority and the available benefits and incentives for landlords who offer affordable housing. Other local non-profit participants and agencies involved include the One80 Place, Alston Wilkes Society, City of Columbia Housing Programs, Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc., SC Fair Housing Center, the Midlands Housing Trust Fund and the SC State Housing Finance and Development Authority.
More than 200 local landlords have been invited to attend and become a part of the solution to end homelessness in the Midlands.
