Mayor Benjamin to Declare “Make Music Day” in Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin will be joined by Make Music Day Columbia organizers, One Columbia for Arts and History and Rice Music House at EdVenture Children’s Museum tomorrow, June 9 at 11 a.m. to dedicate June 21, 2015 as Make Music Day in Columbia.

Make Music Day is a one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music and other musical events take place around the world on the longest day of the year. Musical festivities in Columbia are part of a global celebration of music making in over 700 cities inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique.

The organizers of Make Music Day Columbia, One Columbia for Arts and History, Rice Music House and WXRY FM, invite everyone from professional musicians to people who have never picked up an instrument to join in the global music celebration by visiting www.makemusiccolumbia.org. Artists that wish to perform are encouraged to sign up and participate!
