SC Film Officially Selected By North Carolina Film Festival

COLUMBIA, SC – COLORS: Bangin’ in South Carolina has officially begun it’s film festival run. In July 2014, “COLORS” won the prestigious “FILM HEALS AWARDS” at the Manhattan Film Festival in New York City. This award has opened up a roster of numerous screenings around the United States that plan to showcase this impactful documentary about the darkside of South Carolina.

“COLORS” Delves into the gang epidemic that plagued South Carolina from 2000-2010 when Gang Violence was at an all-time high. During this time period South Carolina was ranked 1st in Violent Crime for 10 years in a row. In 2007, South Carolina had more murders than California and New York by population.
South Carolina Film Director and former Gangleader, Terry Davis got his first real shot when he moved to New York and landed an internship with SPIKE LEE.
The documentary primarily follows filmmaker, Terrence Davis. He was formerly the leader of the Largest Crip Gang in South Carolina history by the time he was 17 years old. After losing so many friends to Disloyalty, Death, or Prison, Terrence realized it was time for a change. In 2010, he got a college degree in mass communications at University of South Carolina(A) and in 2011 went to film graduate school in New York City.
