Cayce-West Columbia Rotary Shows Its Heart

CAYCE, SC – In an effort to address the issue of hungry families, The Cayce-West Columbia Rotary took on the “Rotary Has HEART” Challenge and collected non-perishable food items for the food pantry sponsored by their meeting venue, Brookland Baptist Church.
The “Rotary Has HEART” challenge was established by former Rotary International Vice President, Anne Matthews, to encourage Rotarians to use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to engage their communities and help feed the hungry, especially children. Hunger affects families across the country and in South Carolina, alone, 28% of children across the state face hunger and food anxiety issues on a daily basis.
For their club’s participation, the Cayce-West Columbia Rotary launched a “Fill the Bin” campaign and successfully collected enough items to reach their goal. With the approval of Harvest Hope food bank, the group was also able to make a financial donation to the Food Pantry at Christian Life Assembly.
The success of this year’s event demonstrates Cayce-West Columbia Rotary’s on-going commitment to the communities it serves and the organizations that work to supply food to those in need in surrounding areas and beyond.
NO child should ever have an empty belly and suffer from hunger in our communities. We are our brother’s keeper. Rotary has Heart!
