Eddie Yandle Named Residential Builder Member of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC – Each year the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia (HBAGC) holds its annual Holiday Ball in Columbia. It’s an evening of fun and celebration, and recognition of those who have helped the home building industry throughout the year.

Prior to the Holiday Ball, the HBAGC membership votes for their choice of nominees for the Byron Crosthwaite Builder Member of the Year and the Associate Member of the Year Award.

The Byron Crosthwaite Builder Member of the Year is Eddie Yandle, owner and CEO of Executive Construction Homes, LLC located in Columbia, S.C. Starting with their first home in 1989, Eddie and his wife, Shanna, work together in running a growing and successful company in the Midlands area. Together they are active in numerous charities and outreach events while also raising two children.

The Yandles’ and Executive Construction Homes’ are very active in the local community. Taking special efforts to employ local vendors and suppliers in the Midlands is very important to Eddie Yandle. “Keeping our economy strong begins at home,” says Yandle, who supports all initiatives to keep the home-building industry strong. Eddie serves on the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia’s Board of Directors as Treasurer, and is also the District 2 Vice President of the Home Builders Association of South Carolina.

Bringing innovative ideas, custom details, and value to consumers is a goal for this community oriented homebuilder. As one of the first to bring multi-generation floorplans to the Midlands area in 2013, Yandle also is one of the select groups of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Green Professional (CGP) educational designation awarded by NAHB. This identifies him as an Owner/Home-builder with the skills and the best strategies for incorporating green building principles into new home and remodeling projects. In 2012, Yandle met all the requirements for membership and has been voted by the Master Builder Committee to be accepted as a Certified Master Builder of South Carolina (CMB). Executive Construction Homes is also multi award-winning builder recognized by the Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia

The HBA Associate Member of the Year is Stan Beckley of Stock Building Supply. Stan has been a member of the HBA since 1995 and serves as chairman of the Construction Workforce Training Task Force which works to bring new talent into the building industry and help alleviate the problem of skilled labor shortages. He is a very active member of the association. He attends nearly every HBA meeting and event throughout the year and represents the association in an outstanding manner in the business community and devotes tireless service to the improvement of the association.

Mark Hood of Hood Construction, Inc. was named Commercial Contractor of the Year. Mark began his career as an Civil Engineering major at The Citadel, which broadened into over three decades tenure in the commercial construction industry. Founding his own company in 1986, his business philosophies are best displayed by his focus on strategic analysis of the methods and means of the construction and project management process. Mark is an active member of the Carolinas AGC, serving as 2011 Executive Board Chairman.

Numerous community affiliations include positions on the Board of Directors for Citizens For Sound Conservation, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Hammond School Board of Directors, and Board Chairman of the Oliver Gospel Mission. Mark and his wife Susan are long-time members of Shandon Baptist Church, where he currently serves as Deacon, Sunday School Dept. Director, and Personnel & Building Committee member.

The HBA Corporate Member of the Year is Ameris Bank. Ameris has provided Financial support of the Home Builders Association; Use of company resources toward the betterment of the Association and has represented the association in an outstanding manner

The Richard N. Sendler Award was named in honor of 1992 Association President and Builder Member of the Year Richard N. Sendler. He passed away in 2013 and the award was first given in 1977. Recipients are Builder Members who project an image that adds to the stature of the association, exemplifies standards promoted by the association, improve the building industry, and who have unquestionable character and integrity. The 2014 Richard N. Sendler Award winner is David Clark of Clark’s Building Solutions.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia would like to commend the award winners on their hard work throughout the year. They have not only served the home building industry well, but the Columbia community and the entire state have benefited from their dedication and work.
