Laura Derrick Elected Secretary of SC State Association of Realtors

COLUMBIA, SC – The SC State Association of Realtors® recently elected Laura Derrick to serve as Secretary of the organization for 2015. She joins the Leadership Team December 1^st. A Clemson University graduate with a BA in Elementary Education, Laura enjoyed teaching school in Lexington-Richland School District Five for over 7 years before entering the real estate profession. During her successful 26-year tenure in real estate, Laura has held numerous leadership roles. She served the past three years as the Regional 5 Vice President for the State Association. Prior to that, she held the position of President of Central Carolina Realtors Association (CCRA) and was selected Realtor of the Year. She is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), a Graduate od the Realtor Institute (GRI), and a USAA and Cartus Relocation Specialist. Laura is also a Life Member of the Circle of Excellence Club and received the President’s Excellence Program award for 1997. The award, given by the Columbia Board of REALTORS®, has been bestowed to less than 20 REALTORS® over the past ten years.

As a volunteer for the March of Dimes, Laura Derrick served on the Board of Directors for ten years and during that time was honored as Community Volunteer of the Year. She helped raise thousands of dollars for the Children’s Hospital at Palmetto Richland Hospital and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross. In addition to her community service, Laura is dedicated to her church and was recently elected as a Deacon for St. Andrews Baptist Church.

Laura is the mother of twin daughters, a stepson, and has two wonderful grandsons. She is married to Jimmy Derrick and together they have over 69 years of real estate experience.
